So I figured this day would come. One day I'd break the "coming soon... one day..." thing and actually post content. So now I have, and now I suppose I should explain what this is and why this is.
I've wanted to do a blog for ages, but could never pin down just exactly how I would do that. I coded my own social media site with a blog at one point and I thought that would be pretty cool, except anyone who wanted to post to it would have to sign up for an account on my site. No fun in that. We probably all have too many social media accounts as-is. It was a fun exercise in learning what makes social media pages tick, but ultimately it didn't really serve a purpose. So I decided to use an existing service. But now, what content?
I had kicked around the idea of doing a card collecting blog, and that may still happen (with some help), but this isn't that. Travels? A little of that. Game musings? Sure. Mostly, I feel I have a lot to offer the world and a lot of skills that I vastly let sit idle. So I figured I'd just make this about me. Make it about things that strike my interest, or things I'd like to accomplish. The timing of this couldn't be better as I find myself in the middle of a job hunt, and could definitely use all the outlets I can to get my name out there and showcase what I can do.
You likely got here from ThakFu.com, and in the process wondered to yourself... what in the heck is a ThakFu? I'm a ThakFu, I guess. It's a chat handle I came up with so long ago that I don't even really remember what it means aside from it being a play on the legendary video game disaster ShaqFu. I liked how it sounded, I purchased the domain and sat on it... for years... for decades. I guess I always had this vision of it being the next quirky internet buzz word like Google or Ebay. But quirky buzzwords don't quirk (?) without content, quirky or otherwise. Maybe one day ThakFu will be a household name, but for the time being, I'm pretty content with it actually hosting a site and giving me a warehouse for my content and ideas.
So the things make me... me: programming, gaming, baseball, card collecting, hacking, pro wrestling, antiquing, casino nights, traveling, drawing, crafting and cat parenting (she actually crawled on top of my head on her own, at the vet's office, no less.) I'm sure there's more and I'm sure I will rant about some odd things here and there. But for now...
Hello!
